Helen Seyse, 91, died at home, Tuesday, March 6, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Helen was born February 19, 1921, the daughter of Albert and Mary Wasmuth Miller. She earned a BS degree at Syracuse University in 1943 and her MS degree in 1945. In Syracuse on November 22, 1944, she married Paul W. Seyse. They lived for a short time in Sedalia, Missouri and Syracuse, NY before coming to Clinton in 1946. She worked professionally for a time at Broome Distributing Company in Syracuse. Later, she was employed with the NYS Cooperative Extension Service and worked for many years at the dental office of James Francis. She was very active at St. James Episcopal Church and was the first woman selected to serve on their vestry, attaining the position of Warden.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, David and Carol Seyse, Ormond Beach, FL, William and Lois Seyse, Scotia, NY, Carol and Dirk Sonneborn, Syracuse, and Mary Seyse and Tim Richer, Clinton; grandchildren, Eric (Chinasa) and Ann Seyse, Paul, Ted, and Amalie Sonneborn, Christa, Caitlin, and Corinne Richer; and several Miller nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul, in 1999, brothers, Raymond and Hobart Miller; and a granddaughter Sarah Sonneborn.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00AM at St. James Episcopal Church, Williams St., Clinton. Relatives and friends may call from 10:00AM until the time of the service at the church. Private burial will be in Constableville Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Kirkland Town Library, 55-1/2 College St. Clinton, NY, in Helen's memory.
