Obituary of Jean M. Reilly

Jean M. Reilly, 91, of Cedarbrook Village, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 3, 2012. She was born in Brooklyn New York on December 13, 1920. Jean graduated from Jamaica High School and furthered her education at the Katie Gibbs School in New York City. After graduation, Jean worked as the assistant to Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood. Jean was married to Colonel Donald E. Reilly on January 11, 1941. Colonel Reilly died in 2001. As a military wife, Jean was able to travel the world extensively. She was a voracious reader and finished the New York Times crossword puzzle daily. During the winters, Jean and Donald loved spending their time at Jekyll Island. Jean is survived by her daughter, Barbara Anne Meelan, of Clinton, New York. She also leaves grandchildren, Mark Meelan (Jacquie Branck) and Kyra Jean Werner (Judd) all of Clinton, New York, and great-grandchildren, Rylee and Alec Meelan. Jean also leaves her nieces, Jennifer Yates and Sandra Mohan and a nephew, General Christopher Reilly. The family would like to thank the staff at Cedarbrook for the loving care they gave her over the years as well as the nurses at St. Luke's Hospital. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. In memory of Jean, please consider a donation to the Steven Swan Humane Society or the Kirkland Town Library.
