Obituary of Lance B. Smith Sr.

Lance B. Smith, Sr., 75, of Route 233, passed away at home surrounded by the love of his family, on Friday, February 24, 2012. He was born in Utica on November 1, 1936, the son of Robert and Priscilla Bugbee Smith. He grew up in Utica and graduated from UFA. In 1972, he was married to Dorotha LaLonde. Lance was a tool & die maker with Bossert, Utica Corp and retired from Devine Brothers. He was a past member of the Westmoreland Masonic Lodge 518 F.&A.M. and past Assistant Fire Chief of Westmoreland Fire Department. Lance loved his dogs, Teddy and Comet, and enjoyed his time spent with family, friends and most of all, his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Dorotha; his three children and their spouses, Karl and Lisa Smith of Buffalo, Noelle and Lee Hoyle of Rutherfordton, NC and Lance and Danielle Smith Jr. of Oriskany; nine grandchildren, Scott, Corey, Tyler and Ashley Smith, Marina and Harlan Hoyle and Alyssa, Payton and Lance Smith III; his mother, Priscilla Geiser of Glens Falls; sister Noelle and Richard Frasier of Glens Falls; the LaLonde Family and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and his step-father Al Geiser. A Celebration of Lance's Life will be held at Noon on Monday, February 27, 2012 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. All are invited to call Monday from 10am - Noon, prior to the service. Please consider donations in Lance's memory to Hospice & Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd, New Hartford, NY 13413.
