Marie V. DeLia Clinton, formerly of New Hartford On October 17, 2009, Marie V. DeLia, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, friend of many; peacefully entered into eternal rest at her residence in Clinton, NY. Having resided in New Hartford, New York, for 40 plus years; Marie moved in with her youngest, not favorite daughter, as her disease began to rob her of her memory. A gracious and beautiful woman of great faith, Marie was born in Cranford, NY, daughter of the late Felix and Jenny Gerard DeFabio. Marie was a progressive woman. Not only did she graduate from Georgian Court College, Spring Lake, NJ, she also graduated from Katie Gibb's Secretary School. Prior to her marriage, she worked in NYC. She loved taking the train in to work, going to plays, movies, and having lunch in NYC. Marie after turning down an offer to a New Years Eve dance at the Waldorf Astoria, due to a bridge game, she finally, accepted a date with the man she would later marry, and spend a lifetime with. On August 22, 1942, Marie married Spartacus (Spot) DeLia, and raised five children. Marie had many special and meaningful relationships. She lived life to the fullest enjoying every day. Marie enjoyed bridge, tennis, golf, made greeting cards, knitting, needle point, and was a fantastic cook. Of all her passions, and pleasures, certainly her husband and family came first. She is survived by her husband, Spartacus; five Children, and their spouses, Barbara and Francis Bennett of New Hartford, Janice and Bob Martinez of Ct., Jean DeLia of CT., Elis and Anne DeLia of New Hartford and Phyllis DeLia and Paul Connors of Clinton; nine grandchildren, Daina Bennett; Scott, Eric and Laura Martinez; Megan and Michelle McKeough; Elis G. DeLia; CourtneyAnn and NathanDaniel Connors; two great grandchildren, Rylee and Lainee Santino; many nieces, nephews and friends. Marie was predeceased by one sister, Catherine LaCorte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday October 20, 2009, at 9:30AM, at St. Mary's Church, Marvin St., Clinton. Per Marie's request there will be no prior visitation. Internment will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements made by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, or The Woman's Fund, Utica, NY.
