Obituary of Joseph K Delaney
Mr. Joseph K. DeLaney, 92, passed away October 5, 2018 in Rome.
He was born January 26, 1926, in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of John E. and Eileene B. DeLaney. Mr. DeLaney served in World War II in the US Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946 and received an honorary discharge with the rank of Corporal. He was then employed as a civilian at Griffiss AFB in Rome, NY from where he traveled all over the world from 1951 to 1981 when he retired. He married Phyllis Brown of Hecla in 1952. He was a communicant of Annunciation Church for 54 years, serving as president of the Holy Name Society, Chairman of the Parish Council, Chairman of the Liturgy Committee and was commissioned a Lay Minister in 1981. He was a past president and officer of Westmoreland Fire Dept.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Phyllis; six children; an honorary son Fr. Abe Esper; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Joe was predeceased by two daughters, Michelle and Nancy DeLaney and a grandson Andrew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1pm on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills. All are invited to call from Noon to 1pm Tuesday at church prior to the Mass. His burial will be in Westmoreland Union Cemetery. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., Clinton.
