Obituary of Sal James Moran

Please share a memory of Sal to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sal James Moran, 73, was carried to Heaven by the angels on August 20, 2018.

He was born October 31, 1944, son of the late Sal Gizowski and Catherine Moran.  Sal graduated from Clinton Central School and played on the hockey team under the late Coach Burns.  He was also a stick boy for the Clinton Comets.  He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam era.  Sal was a truck driver for over 40 years before working at the NYS Preparedness Training Center.  He was the best Dad, Grandfather and Brother anyone could ask for.

He is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Jamie and Kelly Moran of Texas, Rick Andisic of MD and John and Emily Valvo of Syracuse; two daughters and a son-in-law, Brittany Moran and Tom Hallenbeck of Utica and Carol Melendez of PA; four grandchildren, Nathan James, Noah James, Katie Lynn and Megan Sara; sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Mark Larson of Utica, who cared for him at home; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Carol Moran of Yorkville; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents and his twin brother, Lester.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Saturday, August 25, 2018, at St. Mary’s Church, Marvin Street, Clinton.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  All are invited to call Friday from 4-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice, Disabled American Veterans or a college fund for his grandsons.

The family thanks Hospice for the wonderful care given to Sal.  There are too many people to thank for their kindness and support during Sal’s illness.
