Obituary of Thelma R. Schick
Thelma R. Schick, 90, of Deansboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at the Waterville Residential Care Center.
Thelma was born on August 29, 1927, in Middleburgh, the oldest daughter of Ruth (VanAuken) and Raymond Lawyer, and was educated in Middleburgh schools. She went on to marry Clarence J. Schick who passed away in 2007. In 1989 she retired from The Modern Tailor Shop in Clinton, where she had worked many years. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Clinton, and was a member of the Ladies Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her sons, Craig (Yvonne) Schick, Waterville, and Joseph (Connie) Schick, Deansboro; daughters, Mary Schick (Christopher Jackson), Deansboro, and Judy Ann Schick (Richard Marr), Whitesboro. She leaves four grandchildren, Alycia Schick, Waterville, Lindsay Schick (Michael Storsberg), Yorkville, Amanda (Daniel) Schenk, Waterville and Karl (Samantha) Durant, Waterville, and two step-grandchildren, Justin (Ashley) Dawes, Clinton and Angela Dawes, Utica. She also leaves one step-great-granddaughter, Abigail Storsberg and one great-granddaughter, Avery Lynn Schenk. Thelma is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Sommers, Cobleskill and Jeannette Lawyer, Patterson, NJ, a family friend Sheryl Wittaker, Cobleskill and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Clarence; brothers, Everette (Pete), Harold (Bill), Gerald (Jake), Thomas, and sisters, Marilyn and Violet.
The funeral will be held on Monday, August 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Marvin Street, Clinton where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Croghan. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton. Calling hours are Sunday evening, August 12 from 4-7 p.m. at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service Inc., 35 College Street, Clinton.
