Walter S. Cookenham, Jr. Rochester, NY Walter Sherman Cookenham, Jr., 84, of Wesley Gardens Home, Rochester, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2009 with his family by his side. He was born the son, of the late Walter Sherman Sr. and Florence Wilder Cookenham, on February 16, 1925 in Utica. Walter graduated from UFA High School and received a Bachelor Degree in Forestry and Land Surveying from the University of Michigan. He owned and operated Cookenham & Cookenham as a land surveyor in Clinton. Walter married Coralie Aiken in 1959 in Lake Placid, NY. He was a member of the Masons, SAR, and many historical organizations. Walter was a US Army veteran who served as a paratrooper in WWII. Walter is survived by his wife, Coralie Cookenham; three children and their spouses, Melanie and Mike Savidis of Rochester, Tres Cookenham of Lake Placid, NY, and Cynthia and Jonathan Glenn of Pittsburgh, PA; four grandchildren, Yianni, Walter, and Adonis Savidis of Rochester and Benjamin Glenn of Pittsburgh, PA; one sister, Barbara Croghan of El Cajon, CA; nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is predeceased by one sister Marjorie Showalter and two brothers, Robert and Fred Cookenham. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 11:30AM at The Stone Presbyterian Church, South Park Row, Clinton. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 9-11AM at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St, Clinton. Masonic services will be held Saturday, at 10:15AM at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Crown Hill Memorial Park. www.owenspavlotrogers.com
