Laura Foster Atkinson, 93, of Clinton, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2011 with her family by her side.
She was born on August 5, 1918 in Ilion, a daughter of Seward and Mildred Hanley Foster. Laura graduated from Clinton Central Scholl in 1937 and Excelsior School of Business. She worked at Queensboro Dairy as a bookkeeper in her early years and then stayed home to raise her family.
On September 2, 1944, she married Frank Atkinson, a blessed union of 55 years until his death February 11, 2000. Laura was a member of the VFW Post 9591 Auxiliary for many years and a devoted member of St. Mary's Church. Laura was an avid NY Yankees fan and enjoyed spending time with family and friends most of all.
She is survived by her three daughters, two sons and their spouses, Alice and Ray Ryan of Shallotte, NC, Nancy and Fred Pascoe of Bullhead, AZ, William and Joyce Atkinson of Utica, Peter and Janice Atkinson of Boca Raton, FL and Clinton, NY and Pam and Patrick Conway of Clinton; her ten grandchildren, Lauren and John Conway, David, Bobby and Jimmy Brown, Donna Berg, Tracey Humble, Tanya Pascoe, Kellie Huening and Michael Atkinson; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Grace Atkinson; several nieces and nephews; her lifelong friend, Elizabeth Cramer and all her very good friends at the Clinton Manor. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Tamara Scott, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna Mae and Don Williams, Rose and Robert Manion, Fred Atkinson and Raymond Atkinson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Monday, October 3, 2011 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Sunday from 4-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton.
