Obituary of Paul E. Hoff
Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Paul E. Hoff, 65, of Berkley Drive, Clinton, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the Syracuse VA Medical Center.
He was born July 3, 1946 to Paul H. and Josephine Cooley Hoff. He attended Clinton School and graduated in 1964. Paul earned an Associate's Degree from Morrisville College, Class of '66 and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK, Class of '68.
He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was stationed at Marble Mountain Air Facility in DaNang, Vietnam. After his military service he was employed by Hermitage Gardens in Canastota for 26 years, following that by Koester Associates also of Canastota. He gave up work for health reasons and was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma - a bone/blood cancer.
Paul was a solitary man who enjoyed his home and camp. He also enjoyed quiet rides-time to think and reflect. When he had the chance he would take a spring drive out to Oklahoma, stopping on the way at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis. Then on his return home he would head south to visit the antebellum homes of Natchez, MS and then go to Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC. He saw spring there and at home a few weeks later. He always said it was a good year that had two springs.
Mr. Hoff was a member of St. Mary's Church in Clinton.
He is survived by his brother, Jim of Denver, CO and a host of cousins.
At his request, funeral services will be held at 2pm Friday, September 30, 2011 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery at the family plot. Friends are invited to call Friday from 1pm -2pm prior to the service at 2pm.
