Cullen took great care of my son Carter at Camp Sunrise this year. It was Carter's first year (he's 6) and he needed a friend. As the week went on I'm told the two of them were the best of buddies. I had no idea that Cullen, himself, was still fighting cancer and his passing comes as a shock to me. My heart goes out to his family as I thank them for the time he spent with Carter this summer.

It was such an honor to have met Cullen this year at Camp Sunrise. He was a JC with me and brought a lot of laughs to our group, and a lot of great ideas. The kids LOVED him. His appetite for life was contagious, and brought a smile to everyone's face. He will surely be missed. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I don't even know what words could express my sorrow for you.
I never met Cullen but have photos of him with my 6 yr old grandson Carter. Carter was at camp this summer and your son took him under his wing and became his buddy. Our carter don't take easy to people so that told me Cullen had to be very special. My daughter in law called me today when she heard the sad news of Cullen's passing.
My thoughts are with you.

I met Cullen at Camp Sunrise this past August..although only a week he made a huge impact on everyone. I was a counselor for the youngest girls and one of our 7 year old campers really liked sitting with Cullen at lunch. One night she was so homesick that the only thing that would stop her from crying was having Cullen come over to our cabin. He gave her a flower and told her that she had to go to the dance with him on Friday, so she had to stay at camp. Needless to say, the camper spent the rest of the week in anticipation of going with Cullen to the dance!
Cullen will be greatly missed at camp and will always be a part of our Camp Sunrise Family.

I think the first time I met Cullen was on the ice with our c-mite team back in 2007. His father Bll was coaching, his brother Nolen was playing. I'm watching Cullen skating and shootimg and wondering how come he is not playing on the varisty team. I think I asked Coach Melie's son Daniel, who also was on the ice with us at the time. Daniel told me he has cancer, and his knees hurt him. I was in awe, and responded "I thought I had problems!" God bless you!

To The Cullen Family, I got to meet Cullen this past year at Camp Sunrise. We had many many in depth conversations about everything. What a brave and courageous child. His courage and sense of humor inspired a lot of the younger campers. Having lost a child myself to cancer at age 14. The only words of comfort I can give you are these. You are not alone and your pain and heartache will be carried in my heart for eternity. You son will always be in my thoughts and prayers along with the rest of the family..

To all Parents
“I’ll lend you for a little time a child of Mine, He said, “For you to love while he lives and mourn for when he’s dead. It may be one or four years or nineteen or twenty-three, but will you, till I call him back, take care of him for Me?
He’ll bring you all his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief, you’ll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from life return, but there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true, and from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes, I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain, nor hate Me when I call to take him back again?
I fancied that I heard them say:-‘Dear Lord, thy will be done,’ for all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we run.
We shelter him with tenderness; we’ll love him while we may, for all the happiness we’ve known, forever grateful stay.
But shall the angles call for him much sooner than we’ve planned, we’ll brave bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.

Cullen,
You are a best friend that will always have a place in my heart like no other. Your courage, kindess, and love will never be forgotten. You are an inspiration to everyone who ever met you, and I have no doubt that you somehow touched every single one of us. I only met you in 8th grade but we had an amazing connection. Your smile was contagious and you always made me laugh. There are so many memories I couldn't even name them all. I always tend to find myself thinking about Mr. Smith's science class in 9th grade and who begging me to come see you play hockey. I eventually got to a game and you were so amazing! I can't remember exactly what you did, but I swear you did something on the ice that was directed towards me and I was so happy that I finally made a game <3! I also remember at one of my birthday parties we all grabbed onto you and you skated around the ice dragging all of us. I could go on and on... You will live on forever in my heart and mind. God Bless you and you family.
<3 always Kira Oshaben

Cullen,
If life is measured by those whose hearts you have touched, you lived a full life in your 19 short years. You left a mark on all of us at camp that will never be erased. Your smile, your warmth, your compassion, your enthusiasm and energy - everything about you was to be respected, admired, and appreciated.
Happy Hunting,
