Rome, Clark Mills
Ethel Phoebe Nelson Wakefield, 94, of Rome and formerly of Clark Mills, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Rome Memorial Hospital.
She was born on October 7, 1916, in Hecla, NY to the late Fred and Lucy Draper Nelson. Ethel was educated in Clinton Central School. She married Warren F. Wakefield in New York Mills on January 1, 1935. Warren passed away in 2004. Ethel was a member of the Rome Methodist Church, Methodist Golden Years, Ava Dorfman- Senior Citizens, Young at Heart Choral Group, and the Health and Hope Club at the YMCA in Rome.
Ethel is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Pura Wakefield, Fredonia; four grandchildren and their spouses, Magda and Chris Mann, Rochester, Fred Wakefield, Fredonia, Maria and Albert Ramirez, Fredonia, and Nelson and Denise Wakefield, Flushing; five great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 10:30AM at Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton. Arrangements made by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton.
