Obituary of Doris M. Norman

Doris M. Norman Whitesboro Doris M. Norman, 86, of Whitesboro, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born in Rome, NY on April 23, 1925, daughter of the late William P. and Grace McMahon Rickard. Doris graduated from RFA. She married Richard Norman in May of 1943. Richard passed away on June 21, 2008. Doris helped run her husband's businesses. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved to watch the Cardinals in her front yard. Doris also loved cooking and gardening. She was a member of the Church of the Annunciation. Doris is survived by her five children and their spouses, Elaine Howe, with whom she resided, Richard and Susan Norman, Remsen, Patricia Burrows, MA, Ken Norman, NC, and Nancy and Steve Donovan, Clinton; eighteen grandchildren, especially Cassandra Norman whom also cared for her alongside Elaine; nineteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; her sister, Winnie Ettinger; and special friends, Ruby Greenwood and Lois Lenahan. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Norman; her son, Michael Norman; son-in-law, Douglas Burrows Jr.; and two brothers, William and Elmer Rickard. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 9:30AM at St. Mary's Church, Marvin St., Clinton. Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 4-7PM at the Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. Interment will be held at Grandview Cemetery, Whitesboro. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Aids Resource Center, AIDS Coalition of Mid New York, 1644 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13501or Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413 in Doris' memory. A special thank you is extended to the Visiting Nurses Association, especially Lisa and Stephanie.
