Obituary of Douglas D. Peckham

Douglas D. Peckham Clinton Douglas D. Peckham, 74, of Stebbins Dr., Clinton, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born the son of the late Edward and Janet Williams Peckham on May 29, 1936 in Clinton. Douglas was educated in Clinton Schools. He married the love of his life, Sarah Wood on June 25, 1955 in Utica. Douglas began to build his career at the age of 14, working with his grandfather who was a carpenter and continued right on through to become the general contractor for his own business, Peckham & Sons in Clinton. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Douglas enjoyed spending time at his camp at Bradley Brook with his family, in the summer and friends, to hunt in the fall especially with his great English Setter companion, Peckham's Randy Dandy. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife whenever he got the chance. Douglas is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah; four children, Mark Peckham, Clinton, Laurie Brown, Arizona, Michael Peckham, Kirkland, and Lynn Lee, Clinton; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeffery Brown, Jordynn and Johanna Lee, and Mike Jr. and Maddy Peckham; one great-grandchild, Joseph Werren; many nieces, nephews, and friends, especially Harry Cresswell and Abe Joseph. He was predeceased by a brother and two sisters, Edward, Roxy, and Joyce Peckham. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 7PM at the Owens-Pavlot and Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4PM until the time of the service. Interment will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery in the spring. A special thank you is extended to the staff in the ICU at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
