Magdalen Young New Hartford Magdalen Young, 103, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Presbyterian Home. She was born in New Hartford on February 13, 1908, daughter of August and Edna Mae Farley Kohler. On October 21, 1930, she was united in marriage to Walter J. Young at St. Francis De Sales Church. The couple shared a blessed union of 59 years until Mr. Young's death in 1984. Magdalen was a member of St. Thomas Church and the Roadrunners and St. Francis Altar & Rosary Society. She had lived at The Meadows and then at the Presbyterian Residential Center for many years. She enjoyed cooking and possessed a remarkably green thumb. She is survived by a son-in-law, Robert Wilson of Clinton; two granddaughters, Polly A. Wilson and husband, Gus Goodwin of Portland, ME and Carrie W. and husband, Richard E. Waterman of Concord, MA; three great-grandchildren, Margaret H. Waterman of Concord, MA, Robert Barrett and wife, Sydney of South Portland, ME and Anne Barrett of Portland, ME. She was predeceased by her daughter, Phyllis Wilson in 2006 and her brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am Friday, March 4, 2011 at St. Thomas Church, New Hartford. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, Clinton. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Guild Memorial Fund at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, 2209 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13501.
