Please share a memory of Albertine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Albertine Hamlin Clinton Albertine Angel Santamaria Hamlin, known to her friends and family as "Titou", passed away on Friday, January 7, 2011 with her daughters, grandson and his wife, and her caregivers by her side. Titou was born on December 18, 1920 in Algiers, North Africa. She had recently celebrated her 90th birthday with friends and family. She met her future husband, and love of her life, Franklin Grant Hamlin, in Algiers when he was a Sergeant during World War II. Franklin was a French Professor Emeritus at Hamilton College and predeceased her on January 14, 1989. Titou was a devoted mother and wife. Her focus on home, family, traditions, the garden, wonderful meals, and hand knit sweaters were the foundation for her family. There was never a dog or cat that didn't love her and she nursed many wounded birds back to health. She had a quick wit and an uncanny memory. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind her four daughters; Mary Ann Lee of Clinton, Lynne Motel of Schenectady, Suzanne Hamlin-Smith of Hamden, CT, and Janet Hamlin of Andover, MA, their husbands, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and her cat. No prior visitation. The family will be holding a private burial. Arrangements made by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the SPCA, 25056 Water St, Watertown, NY 13601 or the Stevens Swan Humane Society of Oneida County, 5664 Horatio St., Utica, NY 13502. Her family would like to thank Kate Geary and her staff for the love and care they gave their mother/grandmother/great-grandmother over the past year.
