Obituary of Patrick P. Dougherty
Patrick P. Dougherty, 61, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2023, as the result of an automobile accident.
He was born on January 30, 1962, a son of the late Kenneth and June (Barnes) Dougherty. Pat was united in marriage to Mary Ellen O’Neill on April 22, 1995, at St. Thomas Church. They lived life to the fullest, traveling and gathering friends and making memories along the way, until Mary’s passing on January 26, 2023. Pat and Mary were members of the Tennessee Squire Association and made many trips to Lynchburg, TN. Pat never met a stranger, only a future friend. If you knew Pat, you knew he had a strong work ethic. He felt that if you weren’t proud of the job you did, then you didn’t do it right. Pat worked for the Town of Kirkland Highway Department for many years. He was a devoted caregiver to his wife Mary and to his property, especially his lawn. Pat never sat idle and was always willing to help neighbors and friends in need. He was a bit of a prankster and had a great sense of humor. But he had a big heart and leaves a legacy of love, laughter and great memories behind as he is reunited with his best friend and the love of his life, his wife Mary.
He will be missed by his dogs Cadet, Finnegan, Jasper and River and his cats Tully and Finley. Pat will also be missed by his family, sister Cathleen Dougherty; special niece Shari Manwarren and many loving nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; sisters, Patricia Dougherty and Colleen Dougherty and brother Kevin Dougherty; in-laws, Timothy O’Neill and his daughter Sophia, Dennis and Suzanne O’Neill, Michael O’Neill, Pattie O’Neill and wife Anna Rogers, Margaret “Muggsie” and Michael Myers, and Mary Ann Dougherty; many extended family members including his Godchildren; as well as his countless friends who were like family to him, including DJ and Sarah Roy, Seth and Mary Angela Cresswell, and Steve and Ruth Rolewicz, Jim and Becky McConnell and family, Lisa Meays and husband Brian Humphreys, and Chris Perini. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary; his parents; and his brother Michael.
All are invited to call from 2-4pm on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton. A Celebration of Pat’s Life will follow at 4pm on Saturday at the funeral home. In remembrance of Pat’s caring heart, please consider donations to the animal rescue of your choice.
