Lois E. Smith, 77, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at St. Luke's Home. She was born on March 30, 1937 in Edmeston, NY to the late Martin and Naomi (Nichols) Callahan. Lois had been married to Ambrose Smith before his death. She worked for White Star Cab and Black & White Cab in Utica for over 40 years. Lois loved spending time with her family and enjoyed BINGO. She is survived by her four sons, a daughter and their spouses, Ambrose Smith, Thomas Smith, Robert and Melissa Smith, Edward and Roseanne Smith and Elizabeth and Robert Arcuri; her nine grandchildren, Thomas Smith Jr, Edward Smith, Natasha Dulan, Jacqueline Smith, Amber Cole, Brittany Arcuri, John Arcuri, Hannah Smith and Marissa Smith; her two great-grandchildren, Kahlan and Brady; her three sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Fred Mosher, Rose Reilly and Katherine and Guy Wright; and six brothers and sisters-in-law, Martin Callahan Jr, William and Cynthia Callahan, Michael and Shelly Callahan, Patrick and Sue Callahan, Charles Callahan and Stanley Callahan. She was predeceased by a grandson, Ambrose Smith and her companion Robert Lehner. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.
