Obituary of Mary H Cook

Mary H. Cook, 95, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Lutheran Care. She was born in Deansboro on December 12, 1918, a daughter of John and Ella (Eastman) Hughes. She attended school in Deansboro and Waterville and graduated from the Utica School of Commerce. On November 18, 1939, she was united in marriage to Kenneth F. Cook, until his death in 1987. Mary worked as a secretary at Kogut Electric for many years. She was a member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, the Colonial Dames and the DAR. Mary had a passion for genealogy and spent many years collecting her family's history. She was a lifelong birdwatcher and loved spending time at her camp in Forestport. Mary was also an avid reader who devoured books. She is survived by her son, Dale Cook and Judy Beach of Vernon Center and her daughter Candis and David Cesari of Rome; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Cook of Rome; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a brother David Hughes of Iowa; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; a son, David Cook; sisters, Florabell Cronshey and Blodwyn Courtney; and a brother, John Hughes. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., Clinton. The family sends a special thank you to the staff of the Willow Way unit at the Lutheran Home for the wonderful care given to their mother during her stay.
