Obituary of Sandra J. Geer

Please share a memory of Sandra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sandra J. (Dennison) Geer, passed away July 16, 2023 after a brief illness, with her loving family by her side.

She was born November 30, 1938, in Utica, a daughter of the late Lambert and Lois (Reeder) Dennison.  She initially resided and began her education in Oriskany.  She then attended Clark Mills Elementary and Clinton High School.  On February 26, 1955, she was united in marriage to Albert E. Geer at St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton, NY.  Sandra was a life-long resident of Clark Mills and very loyal to her community. Her family owned the local tavern and were always willing to help someone in their time of need.  She was a proud and faithful member of the Clark Mills Historical Society, in which she held a trustee position.  She was a member of the former St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Clark Mills.

Sandra loved to travel with her family.  She enjoyed trips to Ogunquit, Maine, Sunset Beach, NC, Lake Placid, NY, the infamous trip to McKinney, Texas, as well as many local day trips.  Mom admittedly did not enjoy cooking and took every opportunity to frequent her many favorite local restaurants.  However, she was the Queen of Laundry.  She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, reading the local newspapers, and keeping up on current events.  Incredibly, she was a two-time breast cancer survivor.

She will be missed by her loving husband of 68 years, Al; her three children and their spouses, Donna and Bob Maxam, Kevin and Donna Geer, and Debbie and Mark Edick; her adored grandchildren, Danielle and Adam Westerfeld, Ryan Geer, and Kelly Geer. Her grandpuppies Lexie, Charlie, Jake and Finley meant the world to her and she would spoil them at every chance.  Sandra also leaves a niece Celeste (Brian) McKissick and family in Ohio; niece Barbara Dennison and her daughter of California; two Godchildren, Bill Daws and Brian Snyder. Sandra had many dear friends who enriched her life: Betty and Tom Chamberlain, Dawn Worden, Wayne and Marcia Martin, Joe Lomanto, and her very caring neighbors.

She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers and sister-in-law; and members of the Reeder Family.  She was recently predeceased by her nephew, Stephen Dennison and a great niece.

All are invited to call Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 3-6pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton.  A Celebration of Sandra’s Life will follow at 6pm Thursday.  Private burial will be held for the family at Kirkland Cemetery.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Masonic Care Community for the loving care they showed to Sandra.

In Sandra’s memory, please consider donations to Clark Mills Historical Society or the Masonic Care Community.
