Obituary of Helen H. Jeffery

Helen Hayes Jeffery, 94, of Clinton, NY passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 9, 2023. She was born on February 18, 1929, in New Hartford, NY as one of ten children of William Michael Hayes and Pearl Jones Hayes.

She graduated from New Hartford High School in 1946. Helen worked at Grant’s Book Store until her marriage in 1948. She then moved to Albany, NY and was employed at the State of New York Department of Health. In 1951 she returned to the area to raise her family and has since resided in Clinton, NY. Helen was also employed for many of these years at the Lutheran Home.

Helen’s greatest joys were being a selfless and loving “Nanny” to her grandchildren, enjoying her musical talents, and being a member of St. James Episcopal Church. She was a gifted gardener who loved watching sports, capturing moments on her camera, and appreciating nature. Even at 94, Helen enjoyed challenging crossword puzzles, playing backyard games, and having conversations with anyone she met.

Her survivors include her beloved son and daughter in-law, Michael (Lisa) Jeffery of Clinton, NY, three beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Robert (Jessica) Jeffery of Pulaski, NY, Maureen (William) Rheinheimer of Mooresville, NC, and Joseph (Courtney) Jeffery of Clinton, NY, as well as two beloved great grandchildren, Coraline Jeffery of Clinton, NY and Abigail Jeffery of Pulaski, NY. Also surviving is her sister in-law Jeanne Hayes of New Hartford, NY and several nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her two sons, Gordon II and John, as well as all nine of her siblings.

Arrangements are by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service in Clinton.  Calling Hours are from 12-1PM on Monday, July 17,2023 at Owens-Pavlot and Rogers Funeral Service. A Memorial Service will start at 1PM immediately following calling hours. She will be buried at Sunset Hill Cemetery following her service.
