Obituary of Joan Horst

Joan M. Horst Clinton Joan M. Horst, 81, of Clinton passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Katherine Luther Home. She was born the daughter of the late Francis J. and Mary Donlon Mulchy on July 4, 1928 in Utica. Joan graduated from Utica Catholic Academy. She then became a secretary for Utica Mutual and was employed there for over 40 years. Joan married William Horst on November 26, 1960 at St. John Evangelist Church in New Hartford. William passed away on November 12, 1999. Joan was a very dedicated and devoted Catholic as well as a fun, loving, compassionate person who will be greatly missed. Joan is survived by her step-mother, Gertrude Mulchy of New Hartford; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Donald Creedon of New Hartford; a brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Grace Horst of Sauquoit; a special niece and her family, Maryellen and Howard Thomes and their children Shane, Samantha, and Nicole Thomes all of Adams Center, NY; two nephews and their spouses, Eugene and Linda Horst of Herkimer, and David and Gina Horst of MI.; three nieces and their spouses, Kathy Spamen of Parish, Peggy and Michael Gadziala of New Hartford, and Cindy Creedon and fiance Tim Sears of Rome; a sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Frank Piskowski, along with their children, Frank, Linda, Kathy, and Sandy; nephews, Robert, Roy, John, and Steve Horst; brother-in-law, Louis Imbriano, along with children, James, Debbie and Robert; other relatives; and friends, two special friends Matthias Lampe of Berlin, Germany and Rory Nelson of Deerfield. She is predeceased by her husband, William; a brother, William Mulcahy, and a nephew William D. Horst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 10:00AM at St. John's Historic Church, 520 John St., Utica. Please assemble at church. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 5-8PM at the Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton, NY, 13323.
