Obituary of Ignatius Shepherd

Ignatius "Red" Shepherd Clark Mills Ignatius Shepherd, 87, of Clark Mills, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born the son of the late William and Margaret Overend Shepherd on July 16, 1922 in Clark Mills. Ignatius graduated from Clark Mills and served in the US Army. He married Doris Moda on January 9, 1954 at The Church of Annunciation, in Clark Mills. Ignatius was employed at NY, Ontario, and Western Railroad where he retired from then became a maintenance mechanic for the Clinton High School. He was also a member of The Church of Annunciation, the Holy Name Society, Clark Mills Historical Society, Honorary member of COVAC, Clark Mills American Legion Post #26, Nocturnal Adoration Society, and especially loved to help all people in any time of need. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret (Margie) and Jimmy Curtis Chapman of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Albert A. and Karen Shepherd of Trenton and David I. Shepherd of Clark Mills; a grandson, Derek Chapman of Virginia Beach, VA; a grand-daughter, Kandice Shepherd of Trenton; two sisters, Jane Horner of Buffalo and Gertrude Flint of Westmoreland, two brothers and a sister-in-law, John (Jack) and Eileen Shepherd of Clinton and Leo Shepherd of Rome; several nieces, and nephews. Ignatius is predeceased by his wife Doris, his parents, two brothers and one sister. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Church of Annunciation on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 10:00AM. Please assemble at the church. Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday, July 27, 2009 from 5-8PM at the Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton, NY 13323. Interment will be made at St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. Donation may be made to COVAC, Box 399, Clark Mills, NY 13321, in memory of Ignatius.
