Obituary of Nancy L. Burns

Nancy L. Burns, 73, of Sessions Road, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. She was born October 28, 1935, in Clinton, the daughter of Thomas and Gladys Austin Martin, and attended Clinton Central School. On November 7, 1953, she married Donald Edward Burns at St. Mary's Church in Clinton. Nancy and Don worked side-by-side in their business ventures at Oneida Street Nursery and Don's Rok in Clinton, which Nan continued to operate after Don's death on September 30, 1982. Subsequently she worked for Meals on Wheels at the Sauquoit site. She is survived by her son and daughter and their spouses, Thomas R. and Sally Burns of Delanson and Rebecca B and Todd Kane of Sauquoit; her special grandson, Dylan; cousin, Mary Furner; sisters-in-law, Betty Andrews, Sr. Mary Burns and Delores Burns; and her longtime companion, Carl Christ of Clinton and his family, Cynthia and Bill Callahan, Buddy Christ and Jane McNamara, Diane and Tom McNamara, Carol and Mark Boehlert, Debbie and Kevin Franz, Sharon and Henry Lewis, Matt and Laurie Christ and many grand and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Martin and her cousins, Alice Eichler, Elizabeth Pierce and Winnie Nassimos. Funeral services will be held 9:30am Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton and 10am at St. Mary's Church, Clinton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to call Monday from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Please consider donations in Nan's memory to a charity of your choice.
