Obituary of Eleanor J. Carmen

Eleanor J Carmen

Eleanor "Ellie" Carmen passed away on June 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Ellie was born in Rome, New York on December 1st, 1944, the daughter of Lewis and Dorothy (Roundy) Rashford.  She was known as Ellie to friends and Tede to family.  Ellie was raised in Clinton NY, on the family farm on South Street, and graduated from Clinton Central School to become a well-known local hairdresser. She had her own Salon, that her father built for her, in their home on Saunders Rd.  She had 1 chair and 2 dryers and worked 6 days a week for many years, as well as working at Acees Beauty Salon and the Lutheran Home, where she retired from, in 2014.  She married Sam Carmen on August 14, 1976, they were married for 46 years.

If you knew Ellie, she always met you with a smile, a hug and a kiss.  She always had a story to tell. She loved going for car rides, eating at local diners and enjoyed a good round of golf. Wherever she went, she never met a stranger. She made friends quickly and was extremely loving and loyal to those that were around her.

Ellie leaves her daughter Kristen and Son-in-Law Tom Roach, grandsons Connor and Sean LiButti, her sister Beverly Green and niece Patti (Doug) Maxam Clinton, and several other wonderful nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, brothers and spouses Lewis Rashford (Eleanor), Wayne Rashford (Marie). A sister and spouse Janice Hogan (Richard) and brother-in-law Robert Green.

She adored her grandsons and daughter. She loved their phone calls, text messages, and spending time with them. Whether it was sitting next to one while they played video games, going for a ride to do errands, and of course stopping for ice cream, she was just happy being close with her family. Ellie loved to drive her car while listening to music and enjoying the view. She especially enjoyed starting a lot of her days with having breakfast at local diners and making friends with others that were around. No matter what, she was always up for a good time and ready to laugh with you.
