Obituary of Julie Anne Zombek
Julie A. Zombek of Oriskany Falls passed away on June 20, 2026, at the home of her daughter, just days after celebrating her 100th birthday. Julie was born in Marcy, NY to parents John and Anna (Drewniak) Techmanski on June 12, 1926.
She graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1943 and later from the St. Elizabeth Hospital Nursing School program as a Registered Nurse in 1946. She worked as a public health nurse in New York City and Utica, NY before marrying Stanley W. Zombek of Oriskany Falls. She lived most of her life on the Zombek farm on Kimball Road where she raised her eight children. As her family grew older, Julie returned to work at Harding Nursing Home in Waterville, retiring at age 60. With health issues in later life, she resided at the home of her daughter, Judy, where she lived until her death. Julie had a kind heart, employing her nursing skills to care for the sick and elderly as well as any injured animal that showed up on her doorstep. She loved to solve crossword puzzles, dance to Polka music and try new recipes in the kitchen. She thoroughly enjoyed working in her flower gardens and relished time with her children and grandchildren.
Julie was predeceased by her parents, child brother Wladyslaw, and four siblings – Stefan Techmanski (Gladys), Bridget Rhodes (Thomas), Veronica Techmanski and Helen Sojda (Walter). After the death of Stanley, her husband of 35 years, Julie became the family matriarch. She later suffered the loss of her son, Dr. William Zombek of Hamilton, NY and son-in-law Richard Palaski of Oriskany Falls, NY. She leaves seven children – Stanley J. Zombek, Judith Sefcheck and Nicholas Zombek (Poe Law) all of Oriskany Falls; Regina (Douglas) Pierson of Mt. Marion, NY; Stephen (Sharon) Zombek of Deansboro, NY; Timothy (Janine) Zombek of Lexington, KY; Daniel (Valerie) Zombek of Charlotte, NC; and daughter-in-law Tama Zombek of Oneida, NY. In addition to twenty-two grandchildren, Julie leaves twenty-seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and friends that she met through her lifetime. She will live long in the memories of those who knew and loved her.
Julie’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Hospice-Palliative Care staff of New Hartford, health-care aide Samantha Wivell, and granddaughters Libby Foppes and Renee Russell, all who helped Judy provide loving care for Julie during her final weeks.

Funeral services will be provided by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton, NY. Because of the size of the family, it is requested that visiting hours be limited to relatives and close family friends. Visiting hours will be Sunday, June 28 from 1 to 4 pm. There will be a Nurses Honor Guard tribute at the funeral home at 3:30 pm on Sunday. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 229 Main St., Oriskany Falls on Monday, June 29 at 10 am. All are welcome to attend. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, St Mary’s Ave, Clinton, NY.
