Obituary of John W. Belois
John Belois, age 76, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, just weeks before his 77th birthday. Born on April 23, 1949, in Utica, New York, John was raised in Clinton, New York by his loving parents, John (“Pete”) and Irene Belois.
A devoted family man, John’s greatest joy in life was the people he loved. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca (“Becky”) Belois, with whom he recently celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage—a milestone that reflected a lifetime of deep love, partnership, and shared memories. He was a proud and loving father to his son, Pete Belois, and daughter-in-law, Katie Lindley-Belois of Arlington, Massachusetts. John’s face would light up at the mention of his cherished grandchildren, Addison and Jackson, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
He is also survived by his sister, Diane Belois of Tupper Lake, New York. He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Belois. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Marcia Belois of Clinton, New York, along with many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
John dedicated 40 years of his career to Special Metals, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and commitment. In retirement, he remained active in his community, serving as Secretary-Treasurer of the Local 2310 Retirees Club for 15 years, a role he carried out with pride and dedication.
John had a love of animals and a lifelong passion for nature and agriculture, interests that began in his youth through his involvement in the Future Farmers of America while attending Clinton Central School. In his earlier years, he also enjoyed hunting and helping his brother produce maple syrup, and throughout his life he carried a deep appreciation for the land and the outdoors.
He was known for his love of fixing and driving stock cars, and for the simple joys he shared with Becky—going out to dinner and taking long, peaceful drives through the countryside.
One of John’s proudest accomplishments was building the family home on St. Mary’s Avenue with his own two hands. That home stood not only as a testament to his skill and determination, but as the heart of countless memories where he raised his family with love, care, and dedication.
John will be remembered for his steady presence, his hardworking spirit, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the home and memories he built that will endure for generations.
All are invited to call Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 5-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton. Funeral Services will follow at 7pm. He will be buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton at 10am Thursday.
