I am so sorry. I just read about Chrissy‘s passing. We graduated high school together and I haven’t seen her in several years. We were able to catch up at Saint Pats 75th anniversary. She was there with her mom. I have nothing but fond memories of growing up with her hanging out at her house and her brother JJ. Chris always had a smile on her face and encouraging word for everyone around her. I know she’s now with her mom dad and brother watching over you. To all members of the Calogero family: Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of a wonderful teacher, colleague, friend and person. Chris was a generous and kindhearted person, the first to always greet you with a smile and a laugh. Moreover, she had a great love for learning which was only surpassed by the love she had for each of her students. A faithful teacher is a sturdy shelter and he who finds one, finds a treasure …. Chris was indeed a faithful teacher and a special treasure to her students. (Sirach 6:14)
The word educate comes from the Latin word ‘educere’ which means to “draw forth” and that is exactly what Chris did best … she 'drew out' the best in all her students no matter what their aptitude. The many lessons she taught, over the years, to approximately 4,000+ students will live on in them for years to come. Her legacy will not be found in a textbook, but in the kindness, love and compassion she instilled in her students and all who came to know her. I will miss her dearly and may God grant you peace and consolation in the days ahead

I knew Christine as “Ms. King” during her first few years teaching at Staley. She was one of my absolute favorite teachers and a light during the difficult years of middle school. Her energy, sense of humor, and warmth inspired me to become a teacher, and I have thought of her many times through the years as I’ve navigated the rewards and challenges of working with young people. I know that she has a special place in the memories of countless other students and colleagues, as well.

My memories of Christine were when she would come with Claire to our home at our parties that I had for my daughter Danielle, Danielle and Clara went to school together. Christine would sit and talk and make jokes and her personality would light up the room. I loved having her company and I’m truly sorry to her and her family for such a young age to not be with us still.
She is an angel and she will make everyone in heaven great company. She will definitely make them laugh and smile.

My deepest sympathies to her family. She was a great biology teacher, and I have fond memories of learning in her classroom. She made learning fun and had a great laugh. She is one of the reasons why I learned to love biology and went onto to pursue a career in medicine. From childhood, Christine always had the most positive “can do” attitude with a beautiful and welcoming smile to match. I fondly remember the tremendous joy that emanated from her when she met her then to-be husband, Michael. She was an intelligent, sweet, and generous woman wrapped in humility who reveled in the company of others. She adored every student who was lucky enough to be among those in her many classes over the years at RFA as “Mrs Cal” and of course she was tremendously proud of Matthew and Clare. She was one of the main reasons I became a teacher.
Her love for the classroom was evident everyday. She cared above and beyond and we were more than students.
I still remember attending her wedding and her looking at us saying my students are here as she walked down the isle.
I have tried to model my classroom after her all these years later.

My deepest sympathies and prayers to you and yours on the loss of a truly amazing woman and educator.
I met Mrs. Cal when she became my biology teacher in the late 90’s at RFA. She had just come from the elementary school and boy did we give her a run for her money. To put it plainly… we tortured this woman!! We nick named her Mrs. Stool-agero after a certain lesson she taught and of course, she took it all in stride!! She would call my parents as I often disrupted her class, and they would tell her to punish me as she saw fit. She never did. She would always encourage me and remind me that I was a great kid. I loved her.
Many years later, I was able to have the pleasure of seeing her on a daily basis as I was positioned as the juvenile probation officer at RFA.
On my first day there, I sought her out. I walked into her classroom and she immediately screamed and ran to me, embracing me into a full, loving, strong hug. We laughed and cried.
I apologized to her for making her days long and hard in biology back in the day and we laughed and laughed. And hugged. Every time she saw me, she hugged me and would tell me how much she loved me.
She made an impact on my life. She made an impact on so many. She was so loving, caring and forgiving.
If she means as much to me and so many more as I know she does, I can’t imagine what she means to you all as a mother, wife, family member, and friend.
She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Forever in our hearts.

She was my favorite teacher, any chance I got I was down in her classroom helping her out. She would always called me turkey because I wasn’t done fully cooking as she would put it. She was there for me when I needed her. She will be missed.

How do I pick just one memory to share when they’re all my favorites? How do I choose the words to describe Mrs.Cal as a person when there aren’t enough. The light she was to so many people is something that can truly never burn out. I was lucky enough to get to experience her joy and her love for several years and it was something unparalleled by any other. She was an absolute force of nature that I got to witness in her fullest and it’s something I will never forget. She was and will always be a leading role model and inspiration in all that I do for the rest of my life. To her family, I can only imagine the sadness you are all experiencing right now after loosing such a remarkable human.
