Obituary of Neal H. Klein

Neal H. Klein, 68, of Clinton, passed away unexpectedly on March 26, 2026, following a lengthy illness.

Neal was born in Utica on March 29, 1957, son of Donald and Josephine (Goldenson) Klein. He was a graduate of New Hartford Senior High, Class of 1975 and Cornell University. He became the CEO of his family’s business, Klein’s All Sports, where he was beloved by his employees.

On June 27, 1987, he married the love of his life, Susan Harrigan of Clinton. He is survived by his wife, stepchildren Lauren (Michael Daley) DesJardins of New Hartford and Michael (Laura) Harrigan of Whitesboro; sister Sara (Allen) Brill of Texas and brother Andrew (Julianne) Klein of North Carolina; grandchildren Lily and Brent DesJardins (their father, Michael), Sean, Lucas and Nicholas Harrigan; uncle David (Sharon) Goldenson of New Hartford; father-in-law Robert Harrigan of Clinton; sister and brother-in-laws, Mary (Alan) Akins of Whitesboro, Robin (Jeff) Rizzo, Lisa (Mike) Jeffery, Elizabeth (Joe) Wagner, all of Clinton.

He is predeceased by his parents and mother-in-law, Mary Harrigan.

Neal will be remembered and cherished as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many. He was admired for his intelligence, compassion, and sense of humor. He loved music, especially the Grateful Dead, having attended more than a hundred shows. Neal enjoyed playing in his Crystal Springs golf league and was a die hard Yankees fan. He will be deeply missed.

Neal’s family would like to thank devoted staff in ICU at Wynn Hospital.

Spring burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton.
