Obituary of Frederick F. Schuck

Frederick F. Schuck, formerly of Franklin Springs, NY passed away on February 25, 2026, at the age of 90 from complications of a brief Illness.

Until his retirement in 2008, Fred was the owner / operator of Freds Auto Service Station in Franklin Springs, NY for over 55 years. Not only was Fred’s a great place to get your car repaired, it also was the spot where the local old-timers gathered for their morning coffee and sharing news, stories, and plans for the day.

Fred was born on April 16, 1935, the son of Edward and Dorothy Schuck. On June 21, 1960, Fred married Gloria J. Gardner of Gloversville NY. They made their home in Franklin Springs NY. His wife of 45 years predeceased him on October 5, 2005.  On January 5, 2008, he married Barbara Adams of Clinton NY, whose husband had predeceased her. They made their home in New Hartford NY. Fred was saddened again when Barbara passed away on February 26, 2025.

Fred was also predeceased by a son, Lawrence A. Schuck, four brothers, Edward Schuck, Robert Schuck, William Schuck, John Schuck, and a sister, Catherine Schuck Brown.

Fred is survived by Michael T. Schuck and Frances Cavanaugh (son and longtime girlfriend), Diana L. Dickinson and Roger Dickinson (daughter and son-in-law), John C. Gardner and Helen Knowles Schuck (son and daughter-in-law), Steven F. Schuck and Betty Schuck (son and daughter-in-law), and Eileen Schuck (sister-in-law). Fred also is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and devoted close friends that he considered family, Joe and Sharon Hynes, Tom Vanno, and Sam the cat.

Calling hours will be Thursday, March 12, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, at the Owens-Pavlot and Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton, NY. There will be a mass for Fred on March 13, 2026, 10:00 am, at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton NY. Burial will be at a later date in May of 2026.

Fred’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
