Obituary of Alfred N. Remington
Alfred N. Remington, 90, of Clinton, passed away February 5, 2026.
He was born in Parishville, NY on November 19, 1935, a son of Floyd and Laura (Middlemiss) Remington. Al began his career as a lineman with New York Telephone. He was called to serve his country in the United States Army as a medic in Orleans, France. Al then returned to work at the telephone company in Utica where he met Lois Houck. They were married in 1960 at St. James Episcopal Church in Clinton. Al was a devoted father to their son Mark. He advocated for Mark, and others like him, to ensure they received the best care and support available. Al had a fastidious nature, always making sure his and his in-laws home and yard were meticulously maintained. Al played baseball and tried out as a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians and was an avid bowler and President of his bowling league for many years. He also was the President of the Rome DC Chapter, NYSARC, Inc.
Al is survived by his wife, Lois, his aunt-in-law Louise Whittaker, Lois's cousin, Daryl Shaw, and family including many nieces and nephews from Clinton and Potsdam N.Y. and Florida Areas. He was predeceased by his son, Mark, in 1999; his parents; and his brother and three sisters, Floyd Remington, Frances Hevia, Helen Hayes and Thelma Butterfield.
All are invited to call February 19th between 2:00pm - 4:00 pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton. Funeral services will be held on February 19th, 2026, at 4:00pm at the funeral home. Alfred will be laid to rest at Sunset Hill Cemetery in the Spring.
