She was born February 22, 1943, a daughter of the late Edwin and Mildred (Hadley) Holmes. Ruth grew up on the family farm on Paris Hill, considering it God’s work. She loved taking care of the animals and found peace while tending the farm. For many years, she operated Ruth’s Country Store in Paris Hill and Attic Treasures in Washington Mills. She later worked at Target in guest services, quickly becoming a leader at the store. Ruth enjoyed gardening, reading books, working on puzzles and watching her beloved NY Yankees.
She is survived by two sons, a daughter, and their spouses, Mark and Debbie Taylor, Patrick Taylor, and Michelle and Todd Fleming; stepchildren, Jodi Tuttle, Tammy and Tom Morgan, Grant and Peg Tuttle, Paul Tuttle, Jan Tuttle, and Heather and Brook Knodel; sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sisters Lucy Stauring and Dorothy Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her adoring husband Milton Tuttle; grandson, Clinton, Taylor; son David Ford; brother Charles and wife Patty Holmes, sister Marion and husband Roy Huyck; brother-in-law, Donald Stauring, and her dearest friend, Katie Brennan.
Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service. All are invited to a Funeral Service for Ruth held at Three Steeples Church, 2817 Old Route 12, Paris, NY 13456 on September 21st at 1PM. A private family internment will follow.
The family is grateful for the time and loving care given to Ruth by her granddaughter Jessica Tuttle. The family would also like to thank Dr. John Robertson for the wonderful care he took of Ruth over the years.
