Obituary of James A. Gendron Jr.
James A. Gendron Jr., 82, of Clinton, NY passed away on August 15, 2025. Born in Rome, NY on July 5, 1943, he was the son of the late James A. Gendron Sr. and Sophia Baker Gendron. James was a student at Clinton Central High School where he was a gifted athlete in both hockey and football, following his graduation from Clinton he went on to obtain his associate’s degree.
James was a tractor trailer driver at Consolidated Freightways of Syracuse, NY where he was a valued and trusted employee, always reliably making his destinations safely and timely. His dedication to the workforce led him to become a union shop steward where he utilized his work experience and levelheaded demeanor to help his fellow employees be valued and respected.
James was a people-pleaser; he simply enjoyed socializing and befriending anyone and everyone, he never met a stranger. He had a beautiful collection of classic Corvettes which he proudly tinkered with and showed off to anyone who shared similar taste in cars. James was a regular at the auction scene where he utilized his bidding and negotiating skills to bring home a variety of items. James was a regular at Stella’s in Syracuse where he met his friends on Thursday mornings, together they enjoyed coffee, an excellent breakfast, and solved many world problems. James lived his life to the fullest, he wasn’t shy with anyone he met, and he certainly wasn’t afraid to bid on a beautiful car even if it needed some work.
James leaves behind his sister Edna McConnell; his niece Barb McConnell; he also leaves behind a lifetime of friends, he was especially close to the Calidonna family, Mike Orsino, Jim McCarthy, Mark Teeple, his “Stella’s family”, his supportive neighbors, and many others who touched his life.
