Bonnie L. Barrett
January 8, 1949 - August 3, 2025
Bonnie L. Barrett, 76, of Clark Mills, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, at the Abraham House in Utica under the compassionate care of hospice.
Born on January 8, 1949, in Vernon, NY, she was the daughter of Roy and Elizabeth (Williams) Kitchen. Bonnie grew up in Vernon and graduated from Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School.
Throughout her career, Bonnie worked in various administrative capacities as a secretary at Hayes National Bank, Bradlees, and Dodge Graphic, where she was valued for her dedication and versatility. After her administrative career, she found great fulfillment as a caregiver to the elderly, continuing her lifelong commitment to helping others.
Bonnie had a deep love for animals and was passionate about training dogs and horses. She was actively involved in 4-H with her grandchildren, helping them prepare their animals for competitions at the Boonville and New York State Fair. She was a devoted member of Clark Mills United Methodist Church, where her generous spirit and willingness to help others were well known throughout the congregation.
Bonnie was first married to Gilles Pinard, with whom she had two children, Jeremy and Michelyne. She later married William Barrett, and together they had two children, Travis and Tanya. William brought three children to their blended family: Tim, Chris, and Nicole.
She is survived by her children: Jeffrey Pinard (Shannon) and their children Joshua, Rachael, Jack, and Hannah, Jeremy Pinard (Kelly) and their children Peyton and Asher, Michelyne Pinard (Dave) and their children Elle, Maeve, and Drew, Travis Barrett (Amber) and their children Grace and Bryce, and Tanya Beers (Justin) and their children Caleb, Melanie, Eli, Liam, and Noah. She is also survived by her step-children: Tim Barrett (Cora), Chris Barrett, and Nicole Murphy (Stu).
Bonnie was predeceased by her six sisters: Joan Lampman, Carolyn Peck, Marjorie Coleman, Virginia Malara, Sally Lawton, and Joyce Kitchen.
Her family extends special gratitude to the nurses on the 8th floor at Wynn Hospital, and the wonderful caregivers at the Abraham House and Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.
True to her character of helping others, Bonnie's final wish was to donate her body to science so that others might benefit from her death.
Per her wishes, the family will be holding a private ceremony to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:
