James Gigliotti

Obituary of James J. Gigliotti

James J. Gigliotti, 78, passed away at the home he loved and spent his entire life on July 20, 2025, surrounded by family.

Jim was born in Utica on January 24, 1947, the son of the late Joseph and Grace (Kelsey) Gigliotti. A dairy farmer at heart, Jim’s upbringing taught him the value of doing a job, doing it right and helping those in need. On August 11, 1972, Jim was united in marriage to Denise Mariotti. They shared a union of love and friendship for over 53 years. Jim was very proud of his sons and always put his family first.

After running the family farm, Jim worked at the Town of Kirkland Highway Department for over 20 years. Jim loved to write poems for close friends and family on special occasions. He was a general tinkerer who could build or fix anything. If you couldn’t find him mowing the lawn, he was probably in the garage solving the world’s problems with good friend Dan Maxam.

Jim is survived by his wife Denise; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Derek and Tess Gigliotti of Cave Creek, AZ and Trevis and Lisa Breton of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, his beloved grandchildren, Olivia and Luc and nephew Matt. Jim holds a special place in his heart for Steven and Rylee Calidonna; Dan Maxam, John, Ben and Dan Nye. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Joanne Dobbs.

Jim wishes to extend special thanks to all who attended to his care, most notably Windy Mitchell, Jamie and Samantha.

All are invited to call Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 1pm-3pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton.  Jim’s last words will be read at the close of visitation.  There will be no other public services.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Jim’s memory to Hospice and Palliative Care. The family thanks all the caregivers who allowed Jim to stay at home and the nurses and staff of Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassion.
