Obituary of Margaret E. Acee

Margaret E. “Peg” Acee, 96, passed away peacefully at home on July 19, 2025.

She was born September 1, 1928, in Utica, the daughter of the late Peter and Helen (Dixon) Ferris.  Peg graduated from Proctor High School, where she excelled in sports and cheerleading.  On February 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to Simon “Sam” Acee. They shared a union of love and devotion for 77 years, until Sam’s passing just over a year ago on July 15, 2024.  Peg was a wife, mother and grandmother.  She doted over her family and was happiest when they were all together.  If she wasn’t golfing, bowling or gardening, she could be found in the kitchen.  In 2023, Peg hunted for the last time with her family and got her deer.

She was the heart and soul of her family and will be dearly missed by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Aaron Foote of Westmoreland, Mary Ann Acee of Westmoreland, and Judith and Alan Grossman of Hull, MA; her son and daughter-in-law, Marone and Darcy Acee of Bouckville; her beloved grandchildren, Caryn Foote, William and Deborah Foote, Lisa Maley-Ferraro, Larry Maley, Elizabeth and John Colavecchio, Mikaela Greenberg and Michael Baer, Sarah and Sean Bates, Simon Acee and Erin Williams, Jason Acee and Sara Collver, Jared and Kristen Acee, and Hayden and Dane Moore; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Sam; her parents; her brothers, John, George, Jimmy and Peter Ferris; and her sister, Dorothy George.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills.  All are invited to visitation from 4-7pm on Tuesday at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton.  She will be buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton.

The family thanks all of the caregivers who allowed Peg to stay at home and the nurses and staff of Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassion. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Peg’s memory to Hospice and Palliative Care.
