Obituary of Joseph J. Merriman

Joseph J. Merriman, 56, of Westmoreland, NY passed away on July 9, 2025, following a brave battle with cancer. Born in Utica, NY, he was the son of Gerard Merriman and Beverly Seymour Merriman. Following graduation Joseph was employed as an orderly at St. Lukes Hospital in New Hartford.

Joseph was pals with everyone; he enjoyed spending time with friends and socializing. He was an avid gamer and an even more avid reader.  He was easy to chat with and a great friend to have; his welcoming personality will be missed by many.

Joseph is survived by his mother Beverly Merriman; his brother Gerard Merriman II (Mary); sister Julia (Bernard) Lukas; several nieces and nephews, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins; a lifetime of friends. He was predeceased by his father Gerard Merriman.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service.
