Obituary of Richard J. Lewis

Richard Jeffrey Lewis “Jeff”, 70, of Oriskany Falls, NY passed away peacefully with his family at his side on July 3, 2025. Born in Tonowanda, NY on January 19, 1955, he was the son of Richard David Lewis and Rosemary Bronnjohn Lewis. He graduated from Waterville Central High School and Suny Cobleskill.

Jeff proudly served his country and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant; he was stationed in Germany for four years. Upon his return to the States Jeff was employed at Oneida Container in Vernon where he was a dedicated and beloved employee for 28 years. Following his retirement Jeff was an avid sports fan, historian, and comic book collector. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and was a beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Jeff is survived by his siblings Michael (Polly) Lewis, Jon (Diane) Lewis, Chis (Bonnie) Lewis, and Nancy Lewis Peck; his brother-in-law Neil Surprenant; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Randy and brother-in-law James Peck.

There will be a private service at the family’s convenience. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service.
