Obituary of Meral M. Dahlin

Meral Dahlin, 39, of Clinton, died on June 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 25, 1985, Meral moved to Clinton with her family and attended Clinton Central School from the second grade. She graduated from Cazenovia College with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education in 2009, and subsequently earned her Master’s degree in Special Education & Reading Literacy from the University of Vermont.

On June 6, 2009 she was united in marriage to Matthew John Dahlin. An accomplished equestrienne and gifted teacher, her great passions in life were her two children, Avery Rénée (11) and Isaac Edward (8), her family, the students she taught in the Waterville Memorial Park Elementary School, and her horses, miniature donkeys and chickens on the family farm. She loved horseback trail riding with Avery, and cheering on Isaac at his hockey and baseball games. She was beloved by friends and family, as a witty, positive and vivacious woman and a fiercely loyal friend.

Meral is survived by her husband Matthew, her children Avery and Isaac, her brother Erol Asu (Mia Keith-Schwartz), her parents Ufie and Glynis Asu, grandmother Ruth Vandoorne, aunt Judith Vandoorne, mother-in-law Cindi Dahlin, father-in-law John Dahlin (Alice Root), brothers-in-law Joshua and Jacob Dahlin, and sister-in-law Shana Dahlin.
