Obituary of Marlene E. Williams
Marlene E. Williams, a lifelong resident of Clinton, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 80 years old.
Born on February 25, 1945, Marlene was the daughter of Donald and Elenor (Abel) MacLean, both of whom predeceased her. She graduated from Clinton Central School, where she met the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Leonard Williams. They shared a long and devoted marriage until Leonard’s passing, building a life centered around family, kindness, and deep love.
Marlene worked for a time in the office of Dr. Gale and later served as a beloved nanny to Charlotte and Margaret Jones, whom she cherished dearly. For many years, she also ran a daycare from her home, where she nurtured and cared for generations of local children—many of whom stayed in touch with her well into adulthood.
She was an active and proud member of both P.E.O. and Questers, organizations through which she formed many close friendships and found joy in shared interests and community service.
Marlene’s greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her children: Jeffrey Williams and his girlfriend Kathy Alonso of Florida; Greg and Sandy Williams of Clinton; Dan and Sandra Williams; and Kristin Williams of Clinton. She was a devoted grandmother to Brynn and Chloe Williams of Florida, and Jack and Carter Williams of Clinton. Her love and pride for her grandchildren were boundless.
A special bond existed between Marlene and her daughter Kristin, who lived with Marlene and Len and provided loving care and companionship to them in their later years. That devotion brought them great comfort and meant the world to both of them.
Marlene is also survived by her brother, Ronald MacLean, of Trumansburg, NY; his wife, Gayle; and their children, Kathy and Doug—her niece and nephew. Marlene looked up to Ron as her big brother and held a deep, admiration and love for him, and she viewed Gayle as a sister.
She also loved spending time at her favorite vacation spot, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where she found peace, joy, and lasting memories with those she loved.
Those who knew Marlene will remember her warmth, her gentle heart, and the love she poured into everything she did. And for those closest to her, her familiar exclamation—“Oh my!”—will forever echo in their hearts with a smile.
She touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, family, and enduring love.
All are invited to calling hours Wednesday June 11th from 4-7PM at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Clinton. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12th, 10AM at The Clinton United Methodist Church. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Kirkland Cemetery.
