Obituary of Joan V. Green

Joan V. Green, 80, formerly of Whitesboro, passed away May 1, 2025 at the Eastern Star Home with her family by her side.

She was born on July 2, 1944, in New Hartford, a daughter of George and Anona (Stimson) Barron.  On October 14, 1960, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Green.  They shared nearly 50 years together before his passing on July 25, 2009. Joan was a CNA at local nursing homes, including Presbyterian Home, Eden Park and St. Joseph’s Nursing Home.  Joan worked at Coy’s Market for many years and most recently was the manager of Byrne Dairy in Whitesboro.  She looked forward to her Friday fish fry and trips to the casino.  Her favorite times were spent with her family and she loved when everyone could be together.

She is survived by her devoted children, Cindy Shaffer of Montana, Douglas and Elizabeth Green of Westmoreland, Michele and Bernie Dzwonkas of Clinton, Susan Schaller of Westmoreland, Darlene and Ron Morris of Westmoreland, and Barbara and Michael Salmon of Taberg; her 13 beloved grandchildren; 13 cherished great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her three sons, George, Richard and Andrew; daughter Audrey; husband Ken; grandsons Douglas and Andrew; brothers Conrad and Ray Barron; and her son-in-law Pat Crane.

Graveside services will be held at 2pm Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Clinton.  Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service.

A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:30pm at the Oriskany American Legion Post #1448, 7908 State Route 69, Oriskany.
