
Obituary of Allan G. Dickinson
Allan G. Dickinson, age 89, of Utica, NY, passed away on April 21, 2025, at Wynn Hospital in Utica. He was born on March 8th, 1936, in Ogdensburg, NY, to Gerald and Lena (Denno) Dickinson.
Allan is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary (Reigel) Dickinson, daughters Rebecca Dickinson and Anne (John) Alden, grand-children Jackie (Eric) Smith, Matthew (Rhonda) Morreale, Allie (Brooks) Robinson, Kate (Aaron) Ranieri, and Stacey Alden; great-grandchildren Fred and Charlotte Smith, Ian, Dominik, Bailey, Zechariah Morreale, and William Ranieri; and three expected great-grandchildren. Sisters-in Law, Mary (Dawley) Dickinson, Beth (Harrod) Dickinson, and Betty (Espin) Reigel and brother-in-law Frank Reigel. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gordon and David Dickinson.
Allan graduated from Lisbon (NY) High School, Alderson-Broaddus College (WV), and received his Master of Divinity Theology from Colgate Rochester Divinity School (NY) and a two-year certificate from the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education from Edward J. Meyer Memorial Hospital (Buffalo, NY), and a two-year certificate from the Onondaga Pastoral Counseling Center (NY) in Pastoral Care. He was an Ordained Elder of the United Methodist Church and served various Methodist Churches in New York State, and most recently in Clinton and Camden, NY. After he retired, he served short interim pastorates in the Congregational Church in Washington Mills, NY, and the U.C.C. Church in Deansboro, NY, and in Sherburne, NY.
Allan was known for ownership of multiple Kaiser-Fraiser automobiles and was an active member in the Kirkland Senior Organization for many years. He will be remembered for his delightful sense of humor, his devotion to his family and friends, fondness of cats, his love of anything chocolate and all flavors of ice cream. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends at Acacia Village, in Utica.
A funeral service will be held at the Multi-Purpose Room at Acacia Village, the Lodge, 2160 Bleecker Street, Utica, NY 13501, on Saturday, May 3rd at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Utica Food Pantry, (315) 724-6000 or foodpantryuticany@gmail.com. In his final act of giving and per his wishes, his body has been donated to Upstate Medical University, Anatomical Gift Program.
