Obituary of Doris M. Smith

Doris M. Smith (Hall), 91, was called home to glory on Monday, March 10, 2025 to be reunited with her beloved husband Roger A. Smith. She passed peacefully at the Katherine Lutheran Home in Clinton, NY.

Doris was born March 16, 1933, in Toronto, Ontario to her late parents William and Annie Hall. She was married to Roger on October 15, 1955, in Toronto. The two moved to the United States in 1959 and proudly became U.S. Citizens in 1968.

Doris is survived by her daughters Debra Donnarumma(Glen) of Clarence, NY, and Diane Williams(Gene) of Remsen, NY. Her pride and joy were her five grandchildren, Lindsay Durham(Robert), Daniel Donnarumma(Jessica), Catherine Mogle(Tom Myles), Jonathan Mogle(Gwendolyn) and Diana Donnarumma. She was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Wesley and Nora Donnarumma and Grace Mae Doris Mogle.

Her extended family includes special nieces Heather Trowell(Paul) of Calgary, Alberta and Catherine Robichaud(John) of Kingston, Ontario.

She is predeceased by her sister- and brother-in-law Richard and Carol Pollard whom she enjoyed many summers sharing the “Cottage” in Carrying Place, Ontario.

Doris was a faithful member at Bible Baptist Church in New Hartford, NY where she was “Granny” to many generations of youth and loved to share in worshipping with her favorite song, “Blessed Assurance.” She would like to share her favorite verses with you. John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9 and Romans 3:23, 6:23 and 10:13.

She spent more than 25 years of her career working at the New Hartford School District, within the school lunch program, a role she was immensely proud of.

She loved sharing a meal at a restaurant with friends and family, long car rides, sharing an update on the weather and spoiling her family and grand puppies.

Family services will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the Katherine Lutheran Home for their gracious and loving care.
