Obituary of April M. Reilly
April M. Reilly, 78 of Whitesboro, passed peacefully on February 17, 2025 after tirelessly battling diabetes through her adult life. She was born on April 4, 1946 in Utica, NY, the daughter of the late Hobart and Dorothy (Hughes) Morris.
April attended UFA High School where she met William (Bill/Bucky) Reilly in 1960 when they started their life together. While in high school she had many friends and enjoyed dating, dancing, ice skating and camping. She loved the outdoors. They got married on September 16, 1967.
After 57 years of marriage, April’s legacy lives on through her children: William (Bill) Reilly of Whitesboro; Steven Reilly (Yvonne) of Chadwicks, NY; Grandchildren Brittney Reilly (Shane), Steven Reilly (Maggie), Kevin Reilly (), and Lexci Reilly (); and seven Great Grandchildren. April was called “Nain” (sounds like “nine”, Welch for Grandmother) by her family.
April is also survived by her brother and sister in-law Robert (Bob) and Rebecca (Becky) Morris of New Hartford. April was predeceased by her brothers Edward (Ted) Morris and Hobart (Hobie) Morris.
April enjoyed spending long weekends at the family camp in Brookfield, NY with family and friends. Relaxing, having cook outs, walking through the woods and just being outdoors in the fresh country air without all of the “city” hustle and bustle. Back at home she worked very hard as a house wife for many years and keeping things organized, clean and tidy on a daily basis. April was an avid animal person. She owned, loved and took care of a few horses, several dogs and several cats over the years. She enjoyed cross country skiing right out of the back door when the winter conditions permitted. During the warmer months keeping her flower beds free from weeds was always a chore that never seemed to end. But she was outside enjoying the beautiful sunny days so the chore didn’t bother her. April was a life member of The St. David’s Society in Utica and sang with the Welsh choir for years.
April loved life, loved and cherished all of her family and her friends. She is, was, and will always be loved and missed very much.
