Nancy Elaine McCurdy, 79, of Clinton, New York, passed away September 8, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Nancy was born December 1, 1942, in Corning, New York, daughter of the late Donald R. and Ada Marie Reynolds McCurdy. She graduated from Holland Patent Central School in 1959 and from the State University at Oswego in 1963. Nancy enjoyed an outstanding teaching career. She was a dedicated and highly respected first grade teacher for 37 years at the Robert E. Myles Elementary School in the New Hartford School District.
Nancy will be remembered as a creative and ambitious lady who loved teaching, cooking, traveling, shopping, her beautiful home and especially people. She was a true, trusted and loyal leader who expressed genuine concern for all. Nancy received accolades not only for her unique ideas and presentations in the classroom, but also in numerous endeavors she experienced in organizations and with friends. Nancy was past matron of Mappa Chapter O.E.S. and a member of many and varied educational and volunteer groups. For many years, Nancy wintered in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Survivors include her sister Donna McCurdy Kiggins and brother-in-law Joseph A. Kiggins of Clinton; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her mother and father.
Arrangements are with Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Clinton. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Please consider donations in Nancy’s memory to St. Jude’s.
