Mary H. Garcia, 68, of Fountain Street, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 23, 2017. She was born on November 10, 1949, a daughter of Frederick and Rita (Dignan) Halfmann Jr. She was united in marriage to Michael Garcia on December 23, 1987. Mary was an oncology nurse, retiring from Faxton-St. Luke's in 2011 after 42 years of caring for her patients. She enjoyed quilting, kayaking, photography and sports. After retirement, she led a very active life pursuing her interests. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren most of all. She is survived by her husband Michael; her two sons, Michael and Kate Verni of Marilla, NY and Matthew and Amy Verni of Fayetteville, NY; her daughter Emma Garcia of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Ella, Luciana, Cooper and Maya; her mother Rita Halfmann of Clinton; sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Michael Conway of Clinton; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Carol Halfmann of Worcester, MA; and many nieces and nephews. All are invited to call from 2-4pm Wednesday, December 27, 2017 prior to the Memorial Service at 4pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. The family thanks Hospice & Palliative Care for their care and compassion, especially Irene K.
