Obituary of Mary Ann Prokop

Mary Ann Prokop, 70, passed to eternal life on Saturday, March 14, 2009. She was the beloved daughter of Ruth (Sears) and Joseph Prokop. Born July 24, 1938, she leaves her devoted and much loved twin brother, Timothy Joseph Prokop; two aunts, Mrs. Pat Sears and Mrs. Eleanor Sears, both living out of town; and several cousins. Mary Ann graduated from local Catholic schools and Utica School of Commerce with medical secretarial certification in 1957. She worked for New York State for 35 years. Mary Ann was a member of St. Mary's Church and its Women's Club, the Kirkland Seniors and AARP. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at St. Mary's Church, Marvin St., Clinton. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Tuesday from 2-4 &7-9pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. Mary Ann would like to thank all the people who assisted her in her journey with cancer: the oncology unit at St. Luke's - especially Virginia Gigliotti and Dr. Butala and his wonderful staff, the Regional Cancer Center and especially her friends and neighbors who diligently cared for her. In lieu of flowers, please choose donations to St. Mary's Memorial Fund, 13 Marvin St., Clinton, NY 13323, Hope House, PO Box 161, Utica, NY 13503-0161 or ABC Support Group, c/o Karen Christensen. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
