Obituary of Randy Jon Schmidt

Randy Jon Schmidt New Hartford Randy Jon "Pork Chop" Schmidt, 56, of New Hartford, passed away on February 21, 2009 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. He was born in Utica, on May 27, 1952, the son of the late William and Hattie Fobare Friend Schmidt. He graduated from Clinton High School. He later became a truck driver for several area firms including CP Craska, RB Humphreys for 15 years, and most recently for Walmart. Randy was united in marriage to Linda Cardamone on November 8, 1996 in New Hartford. Randy was a member of the Utica Moose Lodge, Stanwix Mens Club and a member of the Church of Annunciation, of Clark Mills. He especially enjoyed boating, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed spending time with his pals from the Hidden Point Campground. He is survived by his wife, Linda Schmidt; former wife, Jacquelyn Rizzo-Schmidt, of Westmoreland; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eric and Ashley Schmidt, of Westmoreland, and Andrew Schmidt, of New Hartford; three step-children and their spouses, Craig and Debbie Jennings, of Westernville, Patricia and Doug Drewnowski, of Cary, NC, and Megan and Jamie Lagasse, of New Hartford; several step-grandchildren, relatives, and special friends. Randy was predeceased by his brothers, a sister-in-law, and nephews. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Butala and his staff at the Regional Cancer Center. In lieu of flowers please make donations payable to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing Center, PO Box 7, E. Syracuse, NY 13057-0007 or a charity of your choice. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10AM on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Church of Annunciation, Clark Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 5-8PM at the Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton, for a gathering in Randy's memory. www.owenspavlotrogers.com
