Obituary of Alice M. Morris

Alice M. Morris Clark Mills Alice Morris 77, passed away on February 8, 2009 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. During her illness Alice always kept a positive attitude and a beautiful smile on her face. She was born in Utica, on December 12, 1931, the daughter of the late Albert and Dora Richer Dixon and was later adopted by the late Warren and Evelyn Thompson. She graduated from Westmoreland High School. On April 12, 1958 Alice married Milford J. Morris at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Clark Mills. Alice never missed a day while she was the foreign orders clerk for the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company. She later was a Clark Mills school crossing guard for 18 years all the while she took care of her family and home. Alice was a very active member at the St. Mark's Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday School, served on the Vestry, and was a member of the Altar Guild Society. She was also a member of the Clark Mills Historical Society, Westmoreland Alumni Society, and the Women's Guild. Above all else Alice loved to bake, cook, and spend time with her family and friends. She was the unofficial dog walker of Clark Mills and was also known as the Sunshine Lady. Alice and Milford just celebrated their 50th anniversary last April. She is survived by her beloved husband, Milford; two children, Phyllis Rooney and Salvatore Calcara of Rome, and Mark and Darlene Morris of New Hartford; two sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Gage of Schuyler, Roberta and Barney Jachym of Westmoreland; a foster brother Robert Mason of Utica; two grandchildren, Sarah and Aaron Rooney; many relatives and special friends. Alice was predeceased by a brother, Albert Dixon Jr.; a brother-in-law, Charles Gage; a sister, Elizabeth Pick; a niece, Jesse Pick; and like a grandson, Stephen Reschetnikow. Prayers will be held at 10:15am on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc. 35 College St., Clinton followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 19 White St., Clark Mills. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 2-4and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Mark's Episcopal Church or the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220.
